Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have actually been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, said: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These types of products being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no warranty about their safety.

"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
